Monitoring and Automation

At MechaTech we provide custom solutions to suit the client’s unique requirements. These may range from basic home or hobby systems to multi-integrated systems in an industrial environment requiring remote monitoring, automation and control.

The importance of monitoring is that it allows you to become proactive instead of reactive. Having analysable data allows for better decision making as well as time and cost saving.
Sophisticated system monitoring solutions detect potential issues as well as future maintenance requirements and are able to notify the relevant parties of such.

Internet of Things (IOT) Remote Monitoring Systems
IOT Remote monitoring Systems employs modern network technologies to control, configure, monitor and service different electronic devices. These technologies are generally open source allowing them to be used licence free for software greatly reducing the cost. An additional benefit is that a large variety of plug and play instrumentation is available making these solutions highly customisable. Collected data can be inserted into an existing data base to be used in your own front end or reporting.

Automation utilises the value added through monitoring by taking action on foreseen requirements to reach the desired result. Problems are detected and automatically corrected, reducing human intervention to a minimum.

Home Automation and Security

Home automation is all about convenience and peace of mind. It provides the end user with the ability to monitor and control devices in your home from anywhere in the world. These systems have the ability to program and schedule events for the devices on the network. The programming may include time-related commands, such as having your lights turn on or off at specific times each day. It can also include non-scheduled events, such as turning on all the lights in your home when your security system alarm is triggered. A wide variety of devices can be incorporated into these networks such as thermostats, sprinkler systems, lights, appliances, electrical plug sockets, security systems and climate control which are normally easily accessible via a smart device.

Home security is one of the most valuable aspects of home automation as this can be connected to your alarm system, all of the doors, windows, locks, smoke detectors, surveillance cameras and any other sensors that are linked to it giving you real time information and control.

Programmable Logic Controllers
A programmable logic controller (PLC) is a digital computer used for automation of typical industrial electromechanical processes. PLC’s can be used on their own, connected to the desired instrumentation for monitoring and control, or be built into a larger machine.
PLC’s are designed for the industrial environment and are able to work in extended temperature ranges, have immunity to electrical noise, and resistance to vibration and impact. They have battery back up’s or have programs stored in non-volatile memory so they are able to carry on performing their required tasks after a power interruption.
